Steampunk distiller lamp.

Austin Grover Lamps this Sunday @

Things Celtic  11:00-4:30

This is a new lamp finished this morning.  This lamp stands 44" tall and is made from the condenser of an antique distiller I bought in Georgia.  The base is an old plumbing rooter and is made of solid Aluminum, and is covered with a old skin type drum head.  Under the base there are three small bulbs running in a marquee with 16 different, changeable, sequences.  There is a toggle switch on the front that turns the marquee on and off.  The bulb on the tow is an old Edison type lightbulb.

This lamp will be on display and available for purchase this Sunday HERE, or can be purchased direct from me.  Send me an e-mail if interested purchasing this lamp.

New Neo-Victorian lamp.

I just now finished making this lamp for an event being held by Things Celtic.  They are holding a Benefit for Darwin Prophet.   Darwin is known as Austin's own steampunk angel and she fell from a ladder, breaking her arm and leg.   I will have a booth in the parking lot this Sunday from 11-5 so come on by.

My Steampunk lamps at The Mysterium in Austin, this Sunday!

Austin Grover Steampunk / Neo-Victorian lamp Circa 1999.
Well as it turns out I have a knack at making Steampunk and Neo-Victorian lamps.
This is actually a lamp I made in the late 1990's and had hanging on my studio wall.  While doing the Lone Star Roundup a few weeks ago, quite a lot of people told me I should show it to the "Steampunk" crowd.  Well, today I did and I think I found my new niche.

I met Sam Tyler, and she has a spot in the The Mysterium here in Austin.  She couldn't have been any nicer / helpful, and is another great  example of why Austin is such a great city to live.  It is a real nice place and has a lot of really great Steampunk glasses and an unbelievable leather corset with some crazy box hinges on it.  My great friend Liz Kennimer would love it.

Long story short I'll have a lamp in the shop there, and will have a booth this coming Sunday in their parking lot .  The address is 1806 W. 35th St. Austin Tx.

So, everyone come out ant take a look at the examples of lamps I have in this style.  This Sunday!

What is The Mysterium ?

The Mysterium is a Neo-Victorian shop (now located inside Things Celtic) with wares appealing to Steampunks, Goths, and people who like the idea of new twists on old concepts.  The Mysterium aspires to be the store that brings neo Victoriana into your everyday life.  Not just clothing, but also homewares and general wares that will hopefully make your life a little more whimsical and a lot more fun

Lone Star Roundup.

This past weekend was the Lone Star Roundup in Austin Texas and it was a great success.  There was a huge crowd there, in fact so huge the only time I had to take any video was before they opened the gates.   My Cousin William strummed along during the whole event and attracted a lot of people who loved listening to him as they took a tour of all the lamps.   I had a blast meeting a ton of people, and ended up giving away over 1,000 business cards.  I had many familiar and friendly faces drop by for a visit.

This weekend is the Lone Star Roundup in Austin Tx.!

This weekend is the Lone Star Roundup and I have been working franticly to finish my lamps and prints I'm selling this weekend.  The number I lamps I will have will be around 18, and I have made plenty of prints of my best old car photography.  The price of my prints will range from $20.00 to $75.00.

I did manage to take some time at 2:30 am to take a long bike ride with my Cousin William Blunk.  I brought my camera equipment so I took this picture of the two of us.  The sky and the field are lit with the moonlight and with a long exposure.  William and I are lit with the flint from a lighter that I am holding.

The SOS Defender / flame thrower

Here is a great example of the new flames that will be topping the newer versions of the Austin Grover lamps.  There are three sections of flames on the crown, red in front, yellow in the middle and then red again for the back.  The flames have 15 different sequences that they can do in a marque.  The arms have been reinforced and there is a new broad base with a nightlight coming from below.  This lamp as well and the ones following this, will have the button in a hidden position rather than in front of the flames, (I don't like it there).  There will be twelve lamps available with the new flames at the Lone Star Roundup.  My booth will be 10'x20', so there will be plenty of room to show the new material.
